March 16, 2013: American military instructor Eddy Soto is convicted of rape, sexual assault, developing an unprofessional relationship (whatever that means), falsifying an official statement, and adultery. This earns him the surprisingly lenient sentence of four years, but there is a lot more to this than a superficial press report reveals.
Firstly, this guy - presumably Edward Soto - is alluded to as Eddie as well as Eddy.
His conviction was one of a number in a massive US military scandal in which a number of instructors were convicted of offences against women under their command.
Soto was a married man and not particularly physically attractive, but clearly the uniform did wonders for him because he was getting laid left, right and centre, which if nothing else is bad for discipline.

“Then he’s got my back on the bed and he stopped kissing and tried to take off my pants. Then we started having sex.” – Not, he raped me, but we had sex. Can anyone take nonsense like this seriously?
Having said that, there are good reasons sexual relationships should not be permitted in the military, something that applies even more so to homosexuals.
An interesting aside here, on September 29, 2014, airforcetimes dot com reported that:
“The defense noted that the woman visited him multiple times after the alleged rape and continued to have a sexual relationship with him. She also did not report the alleged assault to authorities; investigators learned of the relationship as part of a widespread probe into MTI misconduct”.
In other words, she didn’t accuse him of rape until someone put the idea in her head, but it gets worse:
“An expert witness who testified on behalf of the prosecution said the woman’s behavior was consistent with someone who, like the victim, had grown up in an area of the world where teachers are highly regarded and rape victims may be isolated from their families and communities.”
Which begs the question, what behaviour by her or any woman is not consistent with having been raped?
