December 19, 2009: At Christchurch, New Zealand, teenage airhead student Michelle Anne Taruka Grafton is not kidnapped and raped by a man she knew, or anyone else. She kept up the charade for months, then admitted she pulled this stupid stunt because she liked attention.
On May 5, 2010, she appeared before Judge Stephen Erber at Christchurch District Court where she came clean. At the bottom of the linked article by Ian Steward is a typically facile quote by a member of the sisterhood. According to Director of Rape Prevention Education, Dr Kim McGregor, false complaints are rare.
“We treat people who have made false allegations with compassion because there’s always a question mark over other issues being played out”.
She said too that 90 per cent of rapes were not reported. Wrong approach, wrong factoid.
Interestingly, when I visited the original page on April 21, 2019, to archive it, the Kim McGregor quote had been deleted.
